Japan Proposes New MRLs for Phenthoate and New Additives

The Government of Japan (GOJ) announced that it intends to apply changes to the Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) for phenthoate and approved two new food additives. The Embassy comment period ended on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Before the changes go into effect, there will be a domestic public comment period and the GOJ will notify the WTO.

China’s Canned Deciduous Fruit Annual Report

This report gives the production and consumption totals of China’s canned deciduous fruit. China’s production of canned peaches and pears has decreased while its consumption of canned peaches has increased.

This report gives the forecasted production totals for walnuts and almonds in China, which are expected to maintain the same totals despite an increase in acreage due to favorable weather conditions and government support.

The State Council Duty Committee (SCDC) released its 2013 tariff rate duties for certain commodities, with a January 1, 2013, effective date.
