Blueberry Promotion, Research and Information Order

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced a referendum among eligible producers and importers of highbush blueberries to determine whether they favor continuance of the Blueberry Promotion, Research and Information Order.

Hass Avocado Board Members and Alternates

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the appointment of four members and four alternates to serve on the Hass Avocado Board.  The appointees will serve three-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2015, and ending on Oct. 31, 2018.

Appointed producer members include: Scott Bauwens of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elaine Veyna de Bannatyne of Fillmore, Calif.

Appointed producer alternate members include: Benjamin F. Van Der Kar of Carpinteria, Calif., and Pamela Tahim Thakur of Fullerton, Calif.

Appointed importer members include: Debbie Willmann of Riverside, Calif., and Javier Medina of Pharr, Texas.

Appointed importer alternate members include: Heath Shoup of Murrieta, Calif., and Jose Antonio Castro Echecopar of Rockville, Md.

National Processed Raspberry Council

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) appointed 13 members and alternates to serve on the National Processed Raspberry Council.  Each representative, except for one of the importer alternate members, will serve a 3-year term of office beginning immediately. The importer alternate member will fill a vacancy for a term ending Dec. 31, 2016.

Members reappointed to represent producers from states producing a minimum of three million pounds of raspberries for processing include: Rob Dhaliwal of Lynden, Wash., and Adam Enfield of Lynden, Wash. Alternate members reappointed include: Jon Maberry of Lynden, Wash., and Mark Van Mersbergen of Lynden, Wash.

Hector Lujan of Santa Barbara, Calif., has been reappointed and will represent producers from states producing under three million pounds of raspberries for processing. Jonathan Michael Paris of Thousand Oaks, Calif., has been appointed as his alternate.

Eric Larson of Tigard, Ore., has been reappointed as an importer member. Tyler K. Edwards of Yakima, Wash., and Richard Rubin of Quebec, Canada, are newly appointed and will serve as importer alternate members. Rubin’s term will end on Dec. 31, 2016.

Members appointed as the foreign producer and alternate are Paul Sidhu of British Columbia, Canada and Mark Van Klei of British Columbia, Canada, respectively.

Laura N. Briggs of Brooklyn, N.Y., has been appointed as the public member while Loren Kimura of Moraga, Calif., will be her alternate.

U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council Members

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the appointment of seven members and their alternates to serve on the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council.  Each representative will serve a 3-year term of office which began Jan.1, 2016.

Members appointed include producers Mark D. Hurst of Sheridan, Ore., Patricia Ann Goin of North Judson, Ind., Art Galletta of Hammonton, N.J., and Bill Braswell of Auburndale, Fla.; importer Francisco Allende of Moorestown, N.J.; and exporter Jorge A. Varela of Santiago, Chile.  Juan L. Silva of Starkville, Miss., was appointed as the public member.

Alternates include producers R. Verne Gingerich of Wilsonville, Ore., Shelly Hartmann of South Haven, Mich., David F. Arena of Hammonton, N.J., and Jerod Gross of Arcadia, Fla.; importer John E. Johnston of Salinas, Calif.; and exporter Felipe Juillerat of Santiago, Chile.  Amy Howell of Egg Harbor, N.J., was appointed as the alternate public member.

National Mango Board Newly Appointed Members

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the appointment of six members to serve on the National Mango Board. They will serve 3-year terms beginning immediately, and ending on Dec. 31, 2018.

The members include first handler Patrick F. Dueire of New Castle, Del.; along with importers Michael B. Warren of Parkland, Fla.; Susan Underwood of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; Sergio Palala of San Carlos, Calif.  Also appointed are foreign producers Tomas Paulin Quezada of Colima, Mexico and Jacqueline Abuhayar of Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Nominees for National Blueberry Promotion Board

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced it is seeking nominations for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council.

The Council is composed of 20 members and 20 alternates.  There are five member seats and five alternate seats that need to be filled on the Council as follows: one handler member and one alternate; three importer members and three alternates; and one exporter/foreign producer and alternate representing Canada.  Selected nominees would serve for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2017.

Nominees for National Mango Board

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced it is seeking nominations for the National Mango Board (Board).  Applications for six open seats are due April 11, 2016.  Selected representatives will serve three-year terms of office.  The 18-member board includes eight importers, two domestic producers, seven foreign producers, and one first handler.

Currently, the Board is looking to fill six seats to replace representatives whose terms expire Dec. 31, 2016.

Nominees for Mushroom Council

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) s seeking nominations for the Mushroom Council (Council).  Applications for three open seats are due May 2, 2016.  Selected representatives will serve three-year terms of office.  The nine-member Council includes eight U.S. producers and an importer.
